For those looking to complete their NMC registration, it is important to know the required scores for each component of the Language Proficiency Test you are attempting. It is to be noted that you can combine scores of two attempts of either IELTS or OET. Allowing you to meet the required scores across two test sittings.
- You can only combine test scores across two sittings of the same test (two IELTS or two OET tests).
- You cannot combine IELTS and OET test scores.
- For IELTS: in both sittings your scores must be at least 6.5 for speaking, listening and reading, and at least 6 for writing.
- For OET: in both sittings your grades must be at least grade C+ for speaking, listening and reading, and at least grade C for writing.
- You must take the two test sittings within twelve months of each other, and you must have been tested in all four sections both times.
In this example the two test scores cannot be combined as the applicant has scored lower than the minimum requirement (6) in the Writing component during his second attempt. In this example also the candidate cannot combine the scores as the applicant has not met the required score (6.5) in the Writing component in either attempts. In this example the two test scores can be combined as the applicant has scored at least B in Reading, Listening and Speaking and a C+ in Writing in both attempts. In this example the two test scores cannot be combined as the applicant scored lower than the minimum requirement (C) in the Writing component during his second attempt. In this example the two test scores cannot be combined as the applicant has scored below the required score (C+) in the Writing component during his second attempt.
